6 Ways to Incorporate Tarot into Your Self-Love Practice
6 Ways to Incorporate Tarot into Your Self-Love Practice
What Exactly Is ‘Self Love?’ And why should you be concerned?
If the phrase “self love” brings up images of bubble baths, affirmations, and the occasional lavish dinner date…
It might be time to reconsider your approach to self-care!
True, engaging in any of the aforementioned acts is a generous act of self-love, but there’s a lot more to the practise than that!
When you love yourself, you become a magnet for the things and people you want in your life. Self-love is an act of potent, personal magic – which is where Tarot Reading comes in!
True self-love allows you to discover and experience more acceptance, love, sustenance, and gratitude for who you truly are. When you make it a habit to love yourself every day, you’ll notice all kinds of positive changes in your life — and there are many different ways to utilise Tarot to lead your self-love practise.
Everyday Tarot Can Help You Find And Foster Self-Love
Tarot is a tool that may be used to generate many types of energy in our life. And one of my favourite ways to utilise Tarot is to encourage self-love, which empowers healing, helps us find our place in the world, and pave the way for good, harmonious relationships with others.
Here are eight ideas to get you started with Tarot self-love!!
1. Make a daily card to guide your practise of self-love.
This may appear easy, but don’t underestimate the power of a simple daily card draw! See what comes out when you ask yourself, “What action can I take today to love myself more?” Remember to look at the card’s artwork for prompts as well as your intuitive knowledge.
2. Experiment with the Daily Self-Love Ritual
You can also attempt the Daily Self-Love Ritual, which is similar to the above.
I invented this ritual while writing Everyday Tarot and had over 100 Tarot readers try it out before publishing the book. The ritual received a fantastic reaction, with almost everyone who attempted it experiencing a significant increase in self-love
3. Consider the Self-Love Cards and create your own affirmations.
Make a list of your favourite self-love cards and pair them with short affirmations you may repeat out loud every morning. Begin with the list below and then let your imagination go wild! Choose the cards that speak to you the most and put your own personal affirmations on them.
“I believe in myself,” says the Star.”I deserve love and abundance,” says the Nine of Pentacles.”I love my body,” says the Empress.”I grant myself permission to rest,” says the four of swords.”I adore and nourish myself,” says the Queen of Cups.4. Make a Tarot deck dedicated to your self-love practise.Find a gorgeous new deck that speaks to you about love (or use one of your existing decks!) and dedicate it as your own, self-love Tarot deck. Allow the energy of love to infiltrate each card by storing it with a piece of Rose Quartz.
Set the intention that you will only use this deck for your personal self-love practise. Allow it to remind you of your deep, loving connection with yourself every time you hold it.
5. Practice Self-Love Tarot Meditation
Choose one of your personal self-love Tarot cards (or one from my list above) and find a peaceful place. Examine the card carefully. Examine the scenario, paying attention to the colours, visuals, figures, and general energy of the card. Get comfy, close your eyes, and take three slow, deep breaths.
Put yourself in the situation. What is it like to be inside this card? What do you observe when you take a look about you? What makes you feel loved while you’re in the card? In this situation, how do you value yourself and your needs? How can you channel this enthusiasm throughout the rest of your day? Keep a journal of your thoughts and refer to it whenever you need a self-love boost.
6. Use Tarot to Develop Small Self-Love Habits
Make a list of little, manageable self-love habits you’d like to develop. They could be as simple as drinking three large glasses of water per day, taking your vitamins, or completing a 5-minute meditation at lunch. Inquire of your Tarot cards: What can I do to best encourage the formation and maintenance of this new habit?
The Two of Pentacles may advise you to prioritise this task over all others for the day. The Three of Cups may suggest that being accountable to a group of friends who are attempting to reach the same goal is the best approach to create this habit. The Seven of Cups may even suggest that it is not the most important habit for you to focus on right now, and that you should instead focus on something else that feels more connected in this moment.
Set a reminder for yourself every day for the following 21 days to take action once you’ve decided on the action you can take to create your self-love habit. All that remains is for your habit to become a part of your regular self-love routine!
